Family Welfare Breaks

Our Family Welfare Breaks are offered to Serving and ex-Service families who are in genuine need of a holiday following an illness within the family, bereavement, or other life affecting events. 

Breaks are awarded for a period of up to seven days at a range of major break centres throughout the UK. Additional funds may also be available for travel expenses.

This scheme is also available for individuals who are carers of parents and siblings.

To qualify for a Family Welfare Break, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be Serving or ex-Service personnel or the spouse/partner of an ex-Serviceman or woman (this includes widows, widowers, divorced/separated spouses who have not re-married and not in another cohabitating relationship)*
  • On a low income and have savings of no more than £10,000

PLEASE NOTE: Applications for this scheme are approved by a Committee who meet three times a year
