The Military Wives and Girlfriends Group is a new membership group which has been set up specifically for the wives, girlfriends and partners of Army, Navy and Air Force personnel.
By joining the Military Wives and Girlfriends Group rather than a local branch, you are able retain your membership to the group rather than transfer it each time you’re posted abroad or relocated within the country.
You’ll also be part of a large community of like-minded women - all in the same position as you, each one having to deal with similar demands and complications that military life entails. It’s a great way to meet other military wives and girlfriends in your local area, share your opinions and offer your support to one another.
If there are ten or more members in the same area, base or garrison, then you are free to form your own small branch which will be run by whoever wishes to take on the task (fantastic experience to put on your CV!)
For more information, please visit the Military Wives and Girlfriends Group Facebook page.
On becoming a member you’ll receive a Women’s Section membership card, as well as regular newsletters and mailings to keep you up-to-date with news and events taking place around the country.
Your membership gives you the opportunity to apply for tickets to our Annual Conference – a two day event that brings together branch delegates from all over the country to review the work of the organisation and vote on the resolutions that form the backbone of Women’s Section policy and welfare. It's also a great chance to meet each other.
You’ll also have the chance to apply for tickets to the Legion’s most sought after event, the annual Festival of Remembrance.
Other opportunities include taking part in local/national fundraising events (including the November Poppy Appeal), training and qualifying as a Standard Bearer, Parade Marshal or Caseworker, and developing news skills to take on Branch and County Committee positions.
Membership costs £12 per year and is payable by cheque, postal order, standing order or online via PayPal (with extra 50p transaction fee).
Becoming a member is quick and easy – there are two ways you can do it:
Once we receive your application with payment, we’ll send you a receipt along with your joining pack. This consists of your membership card, a welcome letter and a copy of our most recent magazines.
